After months of uncertainty over his future, Henderson has become the sixth Liverpool player to sign a new long-term deal.

Jordan Henderson has signed a new four-year contract until June 2025 to put an end to doubts over his Liverpool future.

The Reds skipper becomes the sixth player to commit his future to the club after Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Andy Robertson.

Talks between Liverpool and Henderson, whose previous deal would’ve expired in 2023, began on a slow note. It took a while for things to progress, stirring interest from other clubs. Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, and even Arsenal were linked with summer moves.

But negotiations sped up once Euro 2020 finished and Henderson has now committed to extending his decade-long stay at Anfield.

“I’m obviously very honored and proud to continue the journey I’ve already been on here. It’s amazing to finally get it done and just concentrate on looking forward and what the future may hold,” the midfielder told the club’s website.

“I’m in a different place, of course, as a player and as a person, from when I first walked in. I’ve learned and grown a lot over my time here, and I’ve got to thank a lot of people for that.

“I’ve loved every minute of it. Even when I look back at the tough times, I was still enjoying being a part of this football club. The longer I can do that, the better for me really. I want to be here as long as possible. I’ve always said that.

“To continue this journey is incredible for me and my family, and I hope the fans and the club feel the same way.”

Liverpool also hope to tie down Mohamed Salah to a new contract until 2025, like Henderson.
