The Blues midfielder will spend the rest of the season on loan in Turkey hoping to get back to regular first-team action.

Danny Drinkwater has completed a loan move to Turkish side Kasimpasa for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.

The 30-year-old failed to make a single appearance for Chelsea upon returning from a loan spell at Aston Villa over the summer. He featured on three occasions for the U23 side, but never once made Frank Lampard’s squad in any competition.

It marked yet another disappointing chapter in Drinkwater’s Blues career, having only made 23 appearances since his €37.9m arrival from Leicester City in September 2017.

“English midfielder Daniel Noel Drinkwater, a member of Premier League club Chelsea, has signed a contract that connects him to Kasimpasa on loan until the end of the season,” read a brief statement from Kasimpasa.

The Turkish club also announced Drinkwater had successfully passed a medical at the Liv Hospital in Istanbul.

Kasimpasa will be in action on Monday evening in a home match against bottom-placed side Erzurum BB in the Super Lig. Fuat Capa’s men sit 15th in the league standings as things currently stand.

Although Drinkwater probably will have to wait until Thursday’s trip to Ankaragucu to make his debut in Kasimpasa colors.
