After three successful seasons with another club, a Brazilian star winger made his way back to Bayern Munich on a one-season loan.

A Brazilian star winger made the decision to play for Bayern Munich once again, he returns on a loan capacity for the next year. We are obviously talking about Douglas Costa, who spent three successful years at Juventus. He initially came as a specific request from Pep Guardiola. The 30-year-old arrived in Munich back in 2015 from Shakhtar Donetsk with the plan to become a star.

During his first spell with the Bavarian giants, Costa won two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal while playing as second-fiddle to Franck Ribery. After growing tired of not having enough minutes, the Brazilian player decided to leave in order to find fortune elsewhere. Juventus was the next step in his career.

But Costa found more obstacles along the way that prevented him from becoming the star he always envisioned. Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Juventus was the reason he barely plays anymore. This is why he made the decision to return to Bayern on a one-season loan.

Costa still won’t start at Bayern.

Despite coming back to a club where he played more regularly. His veteran status and other stars will prevent him from playing as much as he wants. Costa returns to a very different squad than the one he left behind. Now he has to compete for a position against the likes of Serge Gnabry or Leroy Sane.

Bayern announced his return with the following statement: “FC Bayern have signed Douglas Costa on loan from Juventus. The Brazilian, who played for the German record champions from 2015 to 2017, arrives on loan from Juventus for this season. Three years ago, the winger moved from Munich to the long-established Italian club, where he has celebrated winning the Serie A championship every season since.”

Costa stated the following about his return: “I’m very happy to be playing for FC Bayern again. I had a wonderful time in Munich with lots of successes and I’m sure we’ll win titles again.”
