Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Marc Roca from Espanyol on a five-year contract.
Roca was a key player for Espanyol last term and helped his country win the UEFA U21 Euros last summer.
The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the European champions and will wear the No.22 shirt.
Bayern will be hopeful that Roca makes up for the summer departure of compatriot Thiago Alcântara, who left for Liverpool.
He becomes Bayern’s fourth signing of the summer after forward Leroy Sane, goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, and defender Tanguy Nianzou.
“We”re very happy to have signed Marc Roca,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, as per the club’s website.
“He’s an outstanding fit for our team both as a player and a person, and will continue to develop here with us. We’re sure he’ll add great value to our team.”
Speaking after his move, Roca also expressed his delight at joining a club like Bayern Munich.
“I’m very happy. This is a dream come true for me. I think FC Bayern is the best club in the world and has a strong tradition. I’m really looking forward to wearing the colors of this great club.”
Roca featured in 121 appearances for Espanyol, scoring three goals and recording six assists in that time-frame.
