Arsenal have confirmed the signing of young Swedish striker Nikolaj Moller, aka ‘the new Ibra’, from Malmo.

Arsenal had reportedly secured a deal on Monday’s transfer deadline after Moller undertook a medical. Despite no official announcement being made until Tuesday, however, it appears all went well.

The Gunners have tied down the 18-year-old down to a contract until 2024 and paid Malmo around £450,000.

“Nikolaj Moller has joined us from Swedish side Malmo. He will link up with our Professional Development Phase this season,” read a statement on Arsenal.com.

“The 18-year-old center forward is a powerful striker and prolific goalscorer. He has spent most of his youth career in Sweden, but recently spent time on loan in Italy at Bologna’s academy.

“We all welcome Nikolaj to Arsenal and look forward to watching his development with us. The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”

Moller heads to the Emirates Stadium as one of Sweden’s most exciting young talents after an impressive youth career.

The teenager, who also spent 18 months on loan at Serie A side Bologna, is nicknamed in his homeland as ‘the new Ibra’ in reference to the nation’s superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has thrived at the highest level with several top-tier clubs.

He will begin his Arsenal career with Steve Bould’s U23s squad alongside fellow new signings George Lewis, Jonathan Dinzeyi, and Tim Akinola.
