After a long negotiation, it has been reported that an AC Milan star decided to become a new Inter Milan player on a free transfer.
There aren’t many AC Milan players who go to Inter Milan or vice versa, they tend to go to another club in order to maintain peace. But every now and then, somebody wakes up with the urge to watch the world burn. This is Hakan Calhanoglu’s case, the Turkish star who just left the Rossoneri to become a Nerazzurri player. After failing to reach an agreement to extend his contract with his now former club, he decided to stay in the city. In his case, this has a lot more to do with comfort than it does making anybody else happy.
His life is already set in Milano, which made his decision a lot easier. However, Calhanoglu didn’t really think this through. From this moment forward, all AC Milan supporters will regard him as a traitor for moving to the club’s most hated rival. Calhanoglu signs a new contract with Inter Milan until the summer of 2024 at the age of 27 years. The Nerazzurri fill a position they didn’t really have covered inside the club as Christian Eriksen will probably not play football anymore.

After failing to lead AC Milan to the Serie A title, Hakan Calhanoglu is one of the many players who aren’t happy to remain as Rossoneri. Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be happy for the Turkish star’s decision because he considered the new Inter player as one of the club’s key stars. Calhanoglu makes a move that we’ve seen several times in the past, but not as extreme as this.
We can only think about cases like Luis Figo from Barcelona to Real Madrid or Hugo Sanchez from Atletico Madrid to Real Madrid. Calhanoglu needs to be ready for a lot of scrutiny from this moment forward. This is how Inter Milan announced Calhanoglu’s arrival from AC Milan: “FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that Hakan Çalhanoğlu has joined the Nerazzurri. The 27-year-old midfielder has signed a deal with the Club lasting until 30 June 2024. #WelcomeHakan”
