The Norwegian was barely afforded minutes by Zinedine Zidane but his fortunes could now change after a managerial change at Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti’s reunion with Real Madrid is “positive” in the view of Martin Odegaard, who insists he shares a good relationship with the Italian manager.

Ancelotti was presented as the new Real Madrid head coach on Tuesday – about four months after Odegaard left the club on loan. The 22-year-old is also now set to return to the Spanish capital, with his loan deal at Arsenal ending at the end of the month.

It has been reported Arsenal are interested in signing a player who made the team tick and left a major impact during his short stay, but the new Los Blancos boss reportedly wants the playmaker in his squad for the 2020/21 season.

Odegaard is supposedly looking for stability after four loan spells ever since joining Real Madrid back in 2015, and Ancelotti intends to use him next season.

“He is a coach I know and with whom I had a good relationship when he was last there,” stated the Norway international, speaking to TV 2 Sporten.

“In that sense, it is positive. But beyond that, one day has passed, so I do not know too much about what he thinks about things.”
