Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo spoke about Raul Jimenez’s recovery and how soon fans can expect him to be back.
Raul Jimenez returned to Wolves’ training grounds this week and gave his first touches since November. The Mexican striker has been sidelined for months after his horrific head clash with David Luiz. However, Jimenez’s recovery has been quicker than it was initially expected and he may be back quite soon.
In fact, this would be a huge boost for the Wanderers, who have struggled to put the ball in the net ever since they lost their star striker. Although he’s a talented youngster, Fabio Silva’s characteristics are completely different from Raul’s. Therefore, the Portuguese starlet has had a hard time fitting in Nuno Espirito Santo’s style of play. Additionally, William Jose has also struggled to find the net. The Brazilian striker was signed from Real Sociedad in an attempt to fill Jimenez’s void.
Nevertheless, it looks like Wolves won’t have to worry about their frontman for long. According to Nuno Espirito Santo, fans can expect Raul Jimenez to return this season.
“Totally confident, totally confident,” the manager assured. “For sure, the speed is the speed we need to follow. We need to be aware of the circumstances. Avoid any kind of contact.
“He has been able to participate in the initial part of the training sessions. Just being with his team-mates is a big help for him and for us. We are following the right protocols with no rush. Delighted he is getting better and better day by day. So it is fantastic for us.”
