Uncertainty continues to surround the future of the veteran defender whose contract with Juve expired at the start of this month.

Juventus are yet to open discussions with Giorgio Chiellini regarding a new contract, informs the player’s agent.

Currently a free agent, Chiellini has spent the last 17 years of his career at Juventus.

It has been suggested the club is ready to finally move on from the player, with the Bianconeri looking to target younger players with their long-term future in mind.

In other news, however, they can keep relying on the 36-year-old and are working on handing him a one-year contract extension.

The center-back was a standout performer for Italy en route to their Euro 2020 glory earlier this summer, demonstrating that he still has it in him to perform at the biggest stages. Also, his presence at the Juve dressing room would be a much-needed one, especially after the departure of another experienced figure Gianluigi Buffon.

“Giorgio is very serene, very calm,” affirmed agent Davide Lippi when asked about his client Chiellini on Rai Sport.

“There is nothing new, certainly thinking of Chiellini away from the football fields would be absurd, so I’m sure he will continue to play.

“The goal is to continue playing for Juventus, but marriages are done in two.”
