After knowing the extent of his injury, a distraught Neymar wrote a letter in which he expressed his frustrations with his current situation.

As we go through a brand new Neymar injury that will keep him out of the crunch first-leg against Barcelona, the player wanted to say his piece. Every time he gets seriously injured, the PSG star gets backlash and a bad rep as a diver. But the ones who criticize him fail to look at the whole picture, at least that’s what Neymar feels. In his view, the style of football he practices should be allowed to thrive with no consequence.

But his discourse changed drastically over the years due to the many injuries he suffered. There was a time when he welcomed fouls because he understood that was the only way to stop him dead on his tracks. Instead of trying to evolve as other Brazilian players did before him, Neymar got stuck in that childish ‘Jogo Bonito’. Unless you are Ronaldinho, you can’t expect to keep playing that way and not get fouled for it. Even if you are also Brazilian. But Neymar just doesn’t seem to get it, he wrote a letter victimizing himself in public.

Neymar’s letter to the rest of the world.

“The sadness is great, the pain is immense and the crying is constant,” Neymar wrote on Instagram.”Once again, I will stop for a while doing what I love the most in life, which is playing football. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable because of my style of play, because I dribble and they constantly hit me.

“I don’t know if the problem is me or what I do on the field. It saddens me a lot. It saddens me a lot to hear from a player, coach, commentator or whoever the hell it is, that ‘you really have to hit him’, ‘he falls’, ‘he cries’, ‘a child’, ‘spoiled’ etc. It honestly saddens me and I don’t even know how much I can bear it. I just want to be happy playing football. NOTHING ELSE.”

After reading this text from him, it’s evident he will never accept that he needs to change his game in order to become more effective. Even if playing like this already cost him several trips to the operating table, he will die for his ideals. Everyone should respect him for it but also question if that’s the right move at this stage of his career.
