An understandably disappointed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe assured they gave it everything for PSG after Sunday’s Champions League final loss to Bayern Munich.
Neither Neymar nor Mbappe could produce their best form in Lisbon as Paris Saint-Germain’s European dream ended in tatters after Bayern defeated them 1-0 in Sunday’s final.
Former PSG winger Kingsley Coman headed in the decisive goal in the 59th-minute for Bayern, securing them a sixth European title. The Parisians’ wait for that first trophy, on the other hand, continues.
Neymar, who played a prominent role in helping the club reach the final, lacked his usual spark altogether. He was ineffective and wasted an early chance in part thanks to Manuel Neuer’s brilliance.
It cost the Brazilian a chance to the second Champions League title of his career, and the first one with PSG. He was visibly distraught afterward, needing to be consoled by sporting director Leonardo in the dugout.

Nonetheless, Neymar later took to social media to pay tribute to the PSG supporters and assured them he and his teammates gave it everything.
“Losing is part of the sport, we try everything, we fight until the end,” Neymar wrote on Twitter.
“Thanks for the support and affection of everyone. Congratulations Bayern.”
Mbappe, meanwhile, lacked his usual conviction in Lisbon. He even missed a brilliant chance to capitalize on a Bayern error in the opening period.
Like Neymar, however, the 21-year-old insisted PSG gave it everything again and congratulated Bayern on winning the Champions League.
“Disappointed not to end this year with the best of awards, but life is made that way,” Mbappe wrote on Twitter.
“We fought with all our might. Congratulations to Bayern. And a big thank you for your support.”
PSG will next begin the defense of their Ligue 1 title in Saturday’s season opener away to Lens.
