After the French Super Cup, Neymar and Alvaro Gonzalez exchanged some provocative remarks on their social media accounts.
Paris Saint-Germain won the French Super Cup for the 10th time this Wednesday against Olympique de Marseille. The conquest marked Pochettino’s first-ever career trophy.
After the fixture, Neymar decided to provoke Marseille’s defender Alvaro Gonzalez. In fact, the two players starred in a high-profile controversy just a few months ago. Neymar accused the Spanish player of racist behavior on the pitch after allegedly calling him a ‘monkey’. However, the dispute didn’t have any serious consequences as the French Football League failed to obtain enough evidence.
Four months later, the teams faced each other for the first time since the incident. Naturally, everyone was waiting to see how the player’s reunion went. The pair engaged in a few heated disputes, the worst one as Alvaro Gonzalez literally grabbed the player’s head and tossed him into the ground.
Nevertheless, the real squabble took place after the game ended. Neymar shared a picture of his goal celebration on Twitter with the caption “King, right Alvaro?”. The 31-year-old center-back responded with a screenshot of his dirty tackle on Neymar: “My parents always taught me how to take out the trash. Allez L’OM [Marseille] always.”
Although that could’ve been the end of it, the Brazilian superstar hadn’t had enough. “They forgot [to teach you] how to win titles,” said Ney. Alvaro Gonzalez didn’t let it go and called the forward Pele’s ‘eternal shadow’.
The PSG star ended the thread claiming that Gonzalez was his shadow. “I made you famous, you’re welcome phenomenon.”
Additionally, the Marseille defender sent a video to ‘El Chringuito’ later that evening where he reacted to Neymar’s provocative behavior.
“I maintained my composure, it’s very easy to surpass a person who is less intelligent than you.”
