Lens was the city where PSG played for the first title of 2021 against Olympique Marseille on Wednesday. We have the player ratings.

PSG had a battle in Lens against Olympique Marseille for the first title of 2021, the French Supercup or Trophee des Champions. Neymar wasn’t a starter in Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up because he was coming from a long injury but he was on the bench. Kylian Mbappe lined up next to Mauro Icardi on the attack.

The Argentine striker scored the first goal of the evening in a classic striker chance he created before the break. But Marseille wasn’t going to allow this result to stick as they began playing dirty football from the start. Getting Neymar on the game was a dangerous decision but the Brazilian player never shied away from a challenge like this. Pochettino got him on the game for the second half.

Neymar takes over the game.

As soon as he got on the pitch, Neymar started creating problems for Marseille’s defense through his daring style of play. Although he received many kicks during the time he played, Neymar still provoked a penalty he scored.

That was the second goal for the French giants but Dimitri Payet managed to pull one back for Marseille with a few minutes left on the clock. Despite this reaction from the losing side, the final whistle still came. PSG got the first title of 2021 and Mauricio Pochettino the first trophy of his managerial career.
