The Magpies suffered an unexpected Premier League defeat in the absence of a number of key players.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe hopes to get a number of his injured players back during the international break.

The Magpies had 11 players sidelined for different reasons before their match against Bournemouth on Sunday. In the first half, Newcastle were handed another injury blow as Miguel Almiron limped off the pitch with a hamstring issue.

Dominik Solanke scored a brace for Bournemouth as they defeated Newcastle 2-0 at Vitality Stadium. Speaking after the game, Howe said“The break has come at a very good time. It doesn’t mean we will have a flood of players back, but hopefully one or two.”

Bruno Guimaraes missed the Bournemouth match due to suspension. But his absence is the least of Howe’s squad concerns.

“Bruno was a huge miss. We’ll get him back. But a lot are longer-term and we have to accept that,” the manager added.

“I think we’ve been unlucky some bizarre injuries. Jacob Murphy’s shoulder, Dan Burn landing on his back. There’s nothing we can do about that. It’s a unique situation.”

Newcastle face a string of crucial matches after the international break. Howe’s men will face Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham, and AC Milan between November 25 and December 13.
