Should Ronaldo return to Manchester United or not? His former teammate Gary Neville gives his verdict.

Gary Neville reckons Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn’t re-join Manchester United in the summer.

Despite Juventus qualifying for the Champions League, Ronaldo’s future remains in doubt. He even posted a cryptic Instagram post on Monday, which many fans believe is a farewell message.

And with only a year left on his contract, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with a return to United.

The prospect of linking up with his former teammate and current United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, along with talented stars such as Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes, would surely be a tempting option.

But Neville thinks Ronaldo shouldn’t risk tainting his legacy at Old Trafford by returning for a second spell.

Asked if United should re-sign CR7 in a Twitter Q&A, Neville replied: “Love him but think it’s better to leave the memories where they are.”

Ronaldo previously played for United between 2003 and 2009. He managed 118 goals and 69 assists in 292 appearances and won nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

But Neville has named three other players who would restore United’s glory days instead.
