Ex-Man United star Phil Neville says Bruno Fernandes has had the same impact as club legends Wayne Rooney and Eric Cantona since his arrival.

Bruno Fernandes has already seen himself become a fan favorite at Old Trafford in a short period of time.

Since arriving at the club in January, the Portuguese has made an immediate impact that saw United finish last season in third place after a run of 18 unbeaten games.

Fernandes has carried his good form from the last term into the current campaign and even bagged a brace against Everton in his side’s 3-1 victory at the weekend.

At the moment, the 26-year-old has recorded 23 goals and assists combined in 20 Premier League appearances for the club and his impact is no longer a question.

Phil Neville heaped praise on the player for making a Rooney and Cantona-esque impact at the club despite playing alongside less good players than the mentioned club legends in question.

“You thought after his first initial goals, assists and impact that he made, you thought “Where’s that dip coming? Can he do it in the second season? He’s doing it even better,” the ex-United man said as quoted by Daily Mail.

“When he speaks, he speaks like a Manchester United player, he speaks like a Manchester United captain, he speaks like a leader, he speaks like someone who wants to win. I think he’s a special player.”

“You’ve seen players that have come to Manchester United over the last probably 10, 15 years, I don’t think anyone has had as big an impact in such a short space of time as him.”

“Maybe Rooney, maybe Cantona, those types of names, I think he’s had a similar impact too.”

“His stats, his goals, his assists, his performances. Rooney came in and scored a hat-trick in his first game, Cantona comes in, puts his collar up and says “I’m a Manchester United player”.

‘That type of impact he’s had, even in a team that probably isn’t as good as that team Rooney and Cantona played in.”

It won’t be the first time Fernandes has been compared to some Manchester United greats.
