The Nigerian striker has suffered a fresh injury setback that might prevent him from playing against Viola.
After winning their third game in a row, Napoli reclaimed their second spot on the league table last week. The Partenopei are now preparing to meet Fiorentina at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in their next game. However, they might have to face the Viola without one of their best players.
Victor Osimhen had to limp off Napoli’s training session on Wednesday, reinforcing doubts around his potential absence against Fiorentina.
“After the success in Bergamo, the morning session on Monday and the rest day yesterday, Napoli resumed training this morning at the SSC Napoli Konami Training Centre,” the club’s statement reads.
“The Azzurri prepare for the match against Fiorentina scheduled at the Maradona Stadium on Sunday, 10 April at 3 pm.
“Meret held the entire session in a group. Osimhen left the seat prematurely due to resentment in his left thigh.”
Osimhen did not play for Napoli in their 3-1 win over Atalanta last week due to suspension. However, the new injury setback might delay his return until after the crucial battle against Fiorentina.
