Johan Cruyff’s son struck hard against Joan Laporta’s adversaries for the FC Barcelona presidency. His support is abundantly clear.

FC Barcelona is closer to having elections to choose a new president and Joan Laporta is the strongest candidate to take the job. However, Victor Font presents himself as the most important rival in the race to take control of the club. Laporta will need all the support he can get, especially from the club’s legends. With this in mind, the Cruyff family seems set on supporting the former president for a new term.

Although Johan is no longer with us, his son is acting as a spokesperson for the whole family. During the two golden eras at the club, Cruyff was arguably the most important piece of the puzzle. Laporta always valued him as the father of the club’s model, which gave the club almost all the trophies they have today. But after Joan left the presidency, Johan was even kicked out as the honorary president.

Jordi Cruyff knows who his father would vote for.

During an interview with El Larguero, Jordi Cruyff made a statement that clearly inclines him in Laporta’s favor. He was asked who would his late father vote for president: “I think the answer is very clear: Joan Laporta. I am quite clear that I would vote for Laporta. Always in addition, not only now, but also before and tomorrow.

“Laporta favoritism for the elections? Barça and the fans need to be proud, to feel feared. Former players and players all speak well of Laporta and that is not easy. Xavi himself said that Laporta had been the best president he had ever had. Barcelona fans want to go back to good times. Laporta made bold decisions. People want to feel those feelings of the past again. The banner (at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu) was clear.”
