The Spurs manager has challenged two of his out-of-form players to regain form and fitness ahead of a pivotal point of the season.
Jose Mourinho admits to making “wrong decisions” with pair Gareth Bale and Dele Alli.
Bale and Alli have found opportunities hard to come by for Tottenham this season. The former has been limited to just 248 minutes of Premier League action so far while the latter has been afforded only 101 top-flight minutes.
Questions have been raised over the pair’s futures at the club. The English midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain in January while. The Welsh winger, meanwhile, is reportedly set for Real Madrid return at the end of his loan spell, having been unable to prove his worth.
Tottenham have a crucial few weeks ahead as they play against Wolfsberg in the Europa League Last-32, have crunch clashes in the Premier League, and take on Manchester City in the League Cup final – and the Portuguese manager suggests he is counting on each of his players.
“Good players when they are fit and when they are ready and when they can [play] are always welcome, always welcome,” said Mourinho, via Goal.
“We coaches sometimes we can make wrong decisions, we all do, but not one of us is crazy.
“Not one of us says I don’t want this player to help me and the team when the player has the potential and the conditions he needs to do it.
“We miss Gio [Lo Celso] for a long, long time. We miss [Sergio] Reguilon for a few weeks. If we can have them back, if we can have Dele and Gareth fit and ready to play, it’s a big improvement in our squad.”
