Jose Mourinho provided his expert analysis for Tottenham’s key striker after the disappointing Europa League defeat.

Jose Mourinho is sure that Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is not the same player anymore. It seems that the Wales winger has lost his touch after his arrival from Real Madrid. Clearly, the football industry witnessed some zooming performance from Bale during his early days for Los Blancos.

Subsequently, Bale made his most awaited return to the north London side during this transfer season. And now, Mourinho dropped his words saying that the Tottenham speedster will not be able to show us his old self in this evolving game.

The Portuguese boss compared Bale to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Evidently so, the world’s best iconic players put a lot of efforts to adapt to this ever-changing game of football.

Will he play the same again?

Moreover, Mourinho believes that the 31-year-old will offer a lot to Tottenham in the coming months. However, it may not be that simple to activate the sudden speed-burst that the Welshman possessed before.

And after a disappointing encounter with Royal Antwerp, we should expect numerous changes to the Tottenham squad. Mourinho’s men now face the next challenge in the Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Mourinho said: “Do you want me to start with the same team as tonight? You are an intelligent guy, you know my answer.”

The former Chelsea manager showed no hesitation to talk about Bale’s current form. He said: “I repeat, seven years is a long gap. Which player in the world is the same as he was seven years ago? Sometimes they are just different players.

“You look for example at Ronaldo and Messi and compare them to seven years ago. I think it happens with the majority of players. For sure, he is a different player.”

Whether Bale faces Brighton remains to be seen. “He is working very hard and is improving,” Mourinho said. “Gareth didn’t miss one single minute of any training session. To play 90 minutes it’s still hard, but he is improving. Hopefully, he’ll be back to a better level soon.”

Although, the bright side for Mourinho’s men is that they will be playing on the home turf. Also, the north London side is currently in the fifth spot on the English League table. But, the gaffer will make sure that the team performs well to ensure three points in the bag. Spurs have managed to outperform the opposition in their recent away fixtures in the league.

But, on the other hand, Tottenham did not win any of their home fixtures this season having drawn twice and lost once. Mourinho will be a happy man though, with a positive recovery report from Eric Dier and Tanguy Ndombele’s physical fitness.
