Mason Mount is yet to pull his thoughts together after helping Chelsea advance to the Champions League final.

An emotional Mason Mount struggled to put his feelings into words after he booked his boyhood club a place in the Champions League Final.

Mount sealed victory against Real Madrid when he scored late on to secure a 2-0 win in the second leg of the semi-final at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea went through 3-1 on aggregate.

The Blues will play Manchester City in the final in Istanbul on May 29, and Mount, who has been at Chelsea since the age of six, said to the club’s website: “I cannot put it into words.”

“Great performance. It was a tough game, you know what they are like. I thought we were brilliant. We worked hard.

“We probably should have had five! But the moment important thing is that we won tonight. But it is not over. There is one more game left.

“It was 1-0 but if they scored they were back in the game. To get that one late on, you could see with the celebrations it was a massive goal for us to give us some breathing space.

“We have got two massive cup finals and hopefully we can win.”

On the prospect of facing City, Mount added: “We have got them Saturday. We have played them three times already this season so it is going to be a stunning game.”
