The Serie A leaders are up for probably the biggest test of their season so far, and the team has been urged to win for the missing manager.

An exciting clash awaits on the weekend as AC Milan take on Napoli to resume their Serie A season after the international break.

The Rossoneri have enjoyed a sublime start to the league campaign as they remain unbeaten after seven matchdays and sit atop the table with a comfortable two-point lead.

However, they will have to tread lightly against third-placed Gli Azzurri, who could replace them as table-toppers depending on the result at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday and of the Verona Sassuolo fixture.

It will be even difficult for Milan to grind out a result without head coach Stefano Pioli and his assistant Giacomo Murelli, both of whom have tested positive for COVID-19.

With Pioli at the helm, Milan have looked a force to reckon with in Serie A and finally appear to be on the right track to becoming the European superpower they once used to be.

And Alexis Saelemaekers has expressed his desire to beat Napoli as a gift to his manager.

“The team has worked a lot during these weeks, Sunday’s match is really very important. We hope to do well,” Saelemaekers said in an interview about the upcoming game, via Milan News.

“The coach did a great job in the previous months and on Sunday we want to play and win for him too, it would be very important for us and for him.”
