AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has urged Gianluigi Donnarumma to make a decision regarding his contract with the club.
Franco Baresi says Donnarumma must make choices and be happy with them amidst his ongoing contract saga.
The goalkeeper has run into the final year of his contract with Milan and uncertainty continues to cloud talks of a new deal.
Donnarumma is managed by super-agent Mino Raiola and that has not helped negotiations at all. The popular agent recently asked that the Rossoneri include a €30m release clause in the player’s contract.
There has been no breakthrough over the past weeks but unofficial reports over the past few days claim Donnarumma is close to signing a new contract with his boyhood club.
Not many will understand the idea of a one-man club and going on to become a club legend like Franco Baresi.
The club ambassador has now urged the 21-year-old goalkeeper to make a decision that best suits him.
“Gigio is our product. Raised by us, as true milanista. He must make his choices with serenity and be happy with what he chooses” he told Sky Sport.
Speaking on his own decision to spend his full career at AC Milan, Baressi says he has no regrets.
“I don’t regret my choices. Gigio has to think about where he is, at Milan, one of the most successful clubs in the world. He has to think about where he is, in the team of his heart.”
