AC Milan are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko, reports in Italy say.
After weeks of negotiations, Milan and Chelsea have found an agreement for Bakayoko to return to the San Siro on a season-long loan with an option to buy for €30million next summer.
According to Football Italia, the Blues have softened their stance on the terms as they look to get the midfielder’s salary off the books.
Bakayoko, who spent the last year at Monaco, enjoyed an illustrious loan spell in Lombardy back in 2018/19 and has been keen to return ever since.
Indeed, the 26-year-old, who miserably flopped at Stamford Bridge following a €40million arrival from Monaco in 2017, managed to reignite his career at least temporarily.
Having featured 31 times in Serie A during his previous stint at Milan, the Frenchman will be looking to replicate a similar stride this time around.
After securing Europa League qualification, the ‘Rossoneri‘ are determined to bolster their squad for next term.
With Lucas Biglia heading towards the San Siro exit doors, there will be an empty slot in the midfield for Bakayoko to fill.
The towering box-to-box midfielder’s been so desperate to return to Italy that he accepted a sizeable pay cut from his €6million annual salary.
Frank Lampard has already crossed Bakayoko’s name as he looks for a different type of midfielder to help him win the Premier League title next season.
