The Arsenal boss gave his views on Tottenham’s flying start to the Premier League campaign ahead of the north London derby.

Mikel Arteta accepted Tottenham are ‘doing things the right way’ but insisted it’s too early to deem them title challengers in the Premier League.

A goalless stalemate away to Chelsea last weekend ensured Spurs reclaimed top spot in the league standings from Liverpool, who drew 1-1 with Brighton in their own fixture, and a two-point edge over the Blues.

Jose Mourinho’s men now welcome Arsenal, who sit eight points behind them in 14th, for the first north London derby of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday.

Spurs will be determined to grab all three points not only for local bragging rights but to retain top spot in the Premier League.

“I think it’s very early in the season to see who is title contenders or not,” Arteta said on Spurs’ title hopes as quoted on Sky Sports.

“But what you can say is what I said before is that they (Spurs) are in the position they are because they are doing things the right way.

“What we have to look at is where we will be after 38 games in the league. Now what is going to happen after Sunday, we want to be close and finish three points closer to them.”
