Micah Richards already sees Manchester City as favorites but believes one key decision can further strengthen their chances of winning the league.

Manchester City started to show their worth of late with a number of impressive performances.

The latest came in a 4-0 whooping of Crystal Palace in a match that went one-way for most of the game.

With five straight wins on the bounce, Manchester City are the most in-form side in the league as it stands. In fact, they will go top of the league should they win their game in hand.

It won’t be out of place to label them genuine title contenders at this stage of the season.

Micah Richards admits City already boast firepower all over but can top the icing on the cake by making a move for another striker as support for Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.

So far this season, Sergio Aguero has endured fitness issues, while Gabriel Jesus has managed just one goal through his last 11 appearances.

With that in mind, Richards won’t mind seeing another forward addition in Guardiola’s ranks.

“Man United are in pole position, so it’s theirs to lose!” Richards said as quoted by Goal.

“City, I’ve backed them from the start of the season, just because of the size of their squad.”

“I know they are winning games but just when you want to break down a side later on like Liverpool, United or Chelsea, I think they need a striker, just to put the icing on the cake.”

“And if they get a striker in January, I’ll still say Manchester City.”

Regardless of the current Premier League table, Micah Richards still believes it’s a two-horse race between City and Liverpool.

“I backed them at the start of the season but when you lose a player like Aguero… like Liverpool have done well without Van Dijk and Gomez as well, so I’ll always give them a shout as well.”

“I still think it’s between Man City and Liverpool, I really do. I just think there’s a little bit more quality in the squads.”
