After becoming aware of a man who has chronicled his entire career, Lionel Messi sent him a video message to thank him.
A 100-year-old fan, who has noted every one of Lionel Messi’s goals for club and country, got a heartfelt thank you message from the player himself.
The fan, Hernan Mastrangel, has followed Messi’s career closely and written down every goal the forward has scored on paper. He notes the date, opponent, and the number of goals scored by Messi in the match.
Hernan’s grandson, Julian, made this public knowledge on social media and it even caught Messi’s attention, prompting the Argentina captain to send him a video message.
“Hello Hernan,” said the Barcelona icon on Instagram.
“I’ve listened to your story. It’s crazy, I don’t have my goals written down like you have done it.
“I want to send you a big hug and I want to thank you for keeping track of that. I wish you the best. Bye!”
After winning the Copa America with Argentina, Messi is currently on holiday in Miami with his family.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly agreed on a five-year contract at Barcelona. It includes a 50% wage cut from his previous deal.
