Lionel Messi and Ronald Araujo were noted absentees from this Wednesday’s training session.

The sirens are going off at Barcelona as Leo Messi didn’t participate in the team’s pre-game training session. The Blaugrana are facing Real Sociedad this Wednesday night for the Supercopa. However, it looks like the Argentinian superstar may not be fit in time for the fixture.

Just four days ago, the player was subbed off after suffering a knock at Barcelona’s expressive 4-0 win against Granada. Yesterday, Koeman downplayed the situation, claiming that Messi had some discomfort but would be ready for the match.

Nevertheless, the Argentina star’s absence from training had fans worrying about whether the Barcelona manager was telling the truth. Messi looked like he had sustained a muscle injury and his non-attendance makes way for suspicions of a more complicated trauma. On the other hand, the former Ballon D’Or may have also been spared from the last training session before the game to ensure his injury wouldn’t be aggravated so close to the match.

Additionally, 21-year-old center-back Ronald Araujo was a no show in training as well. The player is suspected to have suffered a muscle injury himself. In fact, the Uruguayan didn’t partake in yesterday’s session either. Barcelona is yet to justify their players’ absence.
