An old rivalry was reignited at Old Trafford after 16 years, and the Scotsman made sure to make it memorable by writing the history books.
Scott McTominay became the first player in the Premier League history to score twice in the opening three minutes of a match with his quickfire double against Leeds United.
Just 69 minutes into the match, the midfielder put his side in the driving seat with a low 20-yard strike after being picked out by Bruno Fernandes, scoring Man United’s fastest ever league goal against Leeds.
The 24-year-old’s second strike came just a minute later as he smashed the ball into the right corner after collecting the ball from Anthony Martial.
McTominay scored his first and second goal of the Premier League campaign and third overall for the season.
Fernandes then amplified Leeds’ woes by finding the net at minute 20, and it was the earliest the Red Devils have gone three goals up in a Premier League match since August 2006.
Victor Lindelof and Daniel James also got on the scoresheet as Man United thrashed their old rivals 6-2 in their first encounter after 16 years.
