In an unexpected turn of events, Kylian Mbappe’s contract could drastically change if he decides to not renew his contract with PSG.

News about Kylian Mbappe’s future have been quite interesting over the last few days, he allegedly decided to not renew his PSG contract. When he arrived at the French giants, there supposedly was an agreement with the board to let him leave after five seasons.

From the first year he started playing at the French capital, Mbappe has been the MVP three times in a row. His career at the club reached a peak last season with PSG getting all the way to the Champions League final. Mbappe was a key player throughout the tournament.

All these accomplishments have forced Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s hand and stated his star player isn’t going anywhere. But Kylian Mbappe has every intention to hold the club to their promise. His decision to not renew the contract places him on the market for a lower price from June 2021 moving forward. Right now, the prices that Mbappe could attract to his club are around €300 million. But there is a new loophole that has been recently revealed.

From €300 to €100 million.

According to a report from L’Equipe, Kylian Mbappe’s contract states that his price will drop all the way to €100 million if he doesn’t sign a new deal. Moreover, the report also revealed that Mbappe’s exit clause would only go up to €150 million if he makes a one-year extension by next year.

This opens the door for both Real Madrid and Liverpool to duke it out for one of the best players on the market right now. This could be the reason the Reds have been mentioned as a possible destination for Mbappe next summer.

Jürgen Klopp’s side wouldn’t mind paying €100 million for a player as talented and decisive as Mbappe. But the biggest obstacle is Real Madrid and Florentino Perez. Nobody hesitates when they think that Los Blancos will go all out to sign the next big legend in world football.
