No Neymar, no Messi? No problem. Mbappe rose to the occasion in the absence of the other PSG stars and helped his side get over the line.

Kylian Mbappe struck late to inspire Paris Saint-Germain to a comeback win in Friday’s Ligue 1 encounter with Angers.

Paris Saint-Germain suddenly found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreline when Angelo Fulgini, getting on the end of Sofiane Boufal’s sublime low cross, used power to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma from close range about ten minutes before the break.

PSG, who were without the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Angel di Maria, Leandro Paredes, and Marquinhos, failed to find the target in the first half.

The Parisians, however, ought to be applauded for their efficiency as they scored with their first shot on target, with Danilo Pereira drawing level in the 69th minute from Mbappe’s cross.

Three minutes from time, Mbappe ended a four-game scoreless streak for PSG when he converted from the penalty spot to secure all three points for his side.

The 2-1 victory helped Mauricio Pochettino’s men avoid the embarrassment of back-to-back defeats and, more importantly, took them nine points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
