In a recent exchange with the press, Mauricio Pochettino spoke honestly about Kylian Mbappe’s future that could make him leave PSG.

The cat’s out of the bag with Mauricio Pochettino’s latest comments about Kylian Mbappe’s future. Before these statements, the French club kept denying everything or ignoring the situation. But Pochettino openly talking about the player wanting to leave the club means they at least acknowledge the situation. The bottom line is that PSG is currently fighting against time and a player’s desire to leave a massive legacy. Paris Saint-Germain hardly seems like the place where a player of this caliber could make history.

But the Argentine manager doesn’t give up, he hopes Mbappe will be seduced by this season’s results. Playing alongside Leo Messi has to be one of the greatest privileges of his career so far. But playing for Real Madrid remains at the top of Kylian’s bucket list. Pochettino is doing everything he can to convince the young star but it might be too late to try it. The time for him to leave without leaving the safe empty was last summer. Convincing Kylian to stay now seems like an impossible task.

Can PSG convince Mbappe?

That’s the million-dollar question for everybody at the club. Kylian recently revealed everything can change in football in a matter of days. He wanted to leave last summer but that ship has sailed for him. Now, all he can do is focus on the current season. If he wins many trophies next to Messi and Neymar, he might feel like leaving would be a mistake. PSG wants to form a dynasty that will last for many years with Kylian Mbappe right at the center.

Pochettino hinted at this during an exchange with COPE and he also revealed a funny anecdote about Messi’s arrival from FC Barcelona: “Kylian will make the decision that he has to make. The club will do everything possible to keep him. PSG can convince him to stay. He could change his mind. Leonardo called me and asked me if I would like Messi. I asked him ‘is that a real question?’ Honestly, I thought it was a joke. Of course, yes. After that, things really started. Once the door opened, I think that he decided to come here.”
