Kylian Mbappe was happy to take the piss at Ligue 1 critics following Lyon’s stunning win over Manchester City.

Mbappe was happy to see another Ligue 1 side progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Lyon were publicly described as underdogs before the game against Manchester City but they defied all odds.

A goal from Maxwell Cornet and more misery from Dembele sent the Ligue 1 side to their first Champions League semi-final appearance in a decade.

After Lyon’s impressive win on Saturday, Mbappe took the opportunity to laugh at those who claimed Ligue 1 was far inferior in quality to the likes of the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.

The PSG star restated the common “Farmers League” insult alongside a clown emoji before saluting Lyon with several clap emojis for good measure.

Lyon’s Twitter account also hopped in on the fun with a tweet of their own, adding “No farmers here” with a winking emoji as they celebrated their triumph.

Lyon will now face Bayern in the semi-finals while PSG take on Leipzig in the second fixture.

As it stands, there is even a possibility of an all-French final should PSG and Lyon win their next games. That will be a huge statement from Ligue if that goes on to happen.
