Nemanja Matic has delivered his verdict on Manchester United’s summer transfer campaign many fans have deemed disappointing.
Manchester United failed to land their No.1 target Jadon Sancho in the summer, which caused unrest among the club supporters.
Not only Sancho, but the Red Devils have missed out on signing other top targets, such as Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli and Jack Grealish of Aston Villa.
Instead, the likes of Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, and Edinson Cavani arrived at Old Trafford. Although they are all proven, top players, the United fans are still of the opinion something more could be done.
However, Nemanja Matic believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s recruitment team has made the right choices. The box-to-box midfielder looks forward to seeing the new additions helping the team reach their old highs.
“It’s always good when we have additions to the team,” Matic told Daily Mirror.
“We’ve signed quality players, so we will see what they can bring to our team.
“We’re happy to see them. Hopefully, they can fit very well in our team, and they can win some trophies with us.”
Cavani, who joined United on deadline day, represents the Red Devils’ high-profile acquisition.
Despite his age, the Uruguayan hit-man strikes fear into the opposition’s backline, and Matic hopes to see the 33-year-old delivering for Solskjaer’s side this term.
“I played against him a few times,” the Serbian midfielder added. “A great player, a great player.
“Very experienced. He scores goals, always. So I hope he will continue to do the same job for us.
“We’re always excited to see somebody come in and, of course, it’s always good to see new faces in the team, especially when we sign the quality players as we did. So I’m happy.”
