After a deadline day transfer, Manchester United striker awaits making his first appearance in the event of COVID-19.
Edinson Cavani will not be at disposal for Manchester United against New Castle. Consequently, he is forced to isolate himself at home.
United signed the former Paris Saint-Germain forward on the deadline day. Moreover, it worked out well for the Red Devils following Anthony Martials red card incident.
In any case, Cavani will not play on October 17 because he is forced to self-isolate for 14 days. The striker will follow the UK government quarantine rules for COVID-19.
A long wait…
The Uruguay international arrived from France on Sunday. Unfortunately, it is a country that is not on the UK’s travel list and thus requires self-isolation upon arrival.
Although there is an exception for some elite athletes, it is necessary to come from a country where regular testing takes place.
Though, all the players who will return from international duty will be able to go back to training without quarantine.
Cavani reportedly did come from a safe environment and will have to follow the instructions. Nonetheless, United questioned the UK government over the rules but it did not work in their favor.
As a result, his 14-days quarantine will terminate on October 18. United play against Newcastle in the Premier League the day before. Therefore, the 33-year-old will battle former club PSG in the Champions League later.
On the other hand, last-minute signing Alex Telles is with the Brazil national team. However, he will not go through the isolation period due to the safe bubble.
Cavani received the number seven jersey following his arrival at Old Trafford. He is excited and looks forward to representing the Red Devils.
