The Blues full-back was left feeling ‘very emotional’ after grabbing the match-winner against Manchester City.

Marcos Alonso has revealed his delight at scoring the decisive goal in Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City after a ‘tough season’.

After falling out of favor under Frank Lampard early in the season, Alonso has won his spot back in the team since Thomas Tuchel became the club’s new manager in January.

And the former Real Madrid man repaid the German’s faith again on Saturday by scoring an injury-time winner to bag Chelsea a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

“I’m very happy, especially because it’s been a tough season,” Alonso told the club’s website.

“I do my best every time I play to put pressure on the manager and try to play more. That’s what I want and I think every time I play I’ve done well, so that’s what I need to keep doing.

“With the goal, it was very emotional and I’m very happy for that.”

Alonso will hope to bag another memorable winning goal when Chelsea meet City again in the Champions League final on May 29.

For now, though, Tuchel’s side turn their focus to Wednesday’s clash with London rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
