The Senegalese has been absent from the last two games while the Portuguese has been on the sidelines since early December.

Jurgen Klopp delivered injury updates on Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota after Liverpool suffered yet another shock home defeat in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Steven Alzate gave Brighton the lead in the second half of the match at Anfield, and that proved to be the winner as Liverpool dropped all three points at home for the second time in a row.

The Reds looked toothless in attack in the absence of Mane who has contributed seven goals and four assists in the league so far but has been forced to miss the last two games due to a muscle problem.

Speaking after the match, Klopp said he hopes to see Sadio Mane fit the crunch clash with Manchester City on the weekend.

“[With] Sadio we will see,” said the manager, via Goal. “He might be available for the weekend, I don’t know. He didn’t train with the team today. We will see.”

Jota, meanwhile, has missed Liverpool’s last 12 matches due to a knee injury suffered back in December, and it could still take a “couple of weeks” for him to return to action.

Klopp added: “Diogo is – I don’t know exactly – a couple of weeks, two, three, four. I’m not sure.”
