After another shock loss at Anfield, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made an admission about the Premier League title race.

Jurgen Klopp has hinted Liverpool are not interested in the Premier League title race at the moment.

The Reds lost their second game at Anfield in succession when they suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Brighton on Wednesday night.

Steven Alzate’s 56th-minute strike was enough to seal all three points for the Seagulls. For all of their ‘dominance’, Liverpool had only one shot on target all through the game. It means they have now gone almost six hours without a goal at Anfield.

From being in prime position to defend their crown, Klopp has now watched his side drop to fourth place.

It gets worse for the Reds as they have to face an in-form Manchester City side for their next game also at Anfield.

The Citizens have a seven-point lead over the reigning champions, including a game in hand to go with.

Klopp has now mentioned that Liverpool are only concentrated on addressing a run of form that has seen them take just two points from their last four home games.

“I’m manager of Liverpool and you always ask – as we were champions last year – and I have to say ‘oh my God, we want to be champions, yes we want it,” he said to the club’s website.

“But you need the games for it and you need the performances for it. And we don’t have them. That’s the truth as well.”

“We have to fight for other things. We fight for three points.”

“It’s not decided yet who will get the three points on Sunday. We have to play better and we will try to as well. Then we will see.”

“These gaps are not interesting at the moment because they are the result of the results we have had already.”

“All we can influence now are the next games, and that’s what we will try to do.”

“Tonight, it wasn’t enough. We saw that and know that. We have to change that.”

Manchester City have won their last 13 games across all competitions. A victory for Klopp and company on Sunday will be a difficult mountain to climb.
