Check out the latest team news, predicted line-ups, and kick-off time as Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United face Aston Villa.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to recall Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday.
After a 1-0 EFL Cup defeat to West Ham midweek, United need to a response. The Red Devils have a superb home record against Villa and must win to keep the pressure on Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
But Villa are no pushovers, as proven by recent results. The impact of Jack Grealish’s summer exit appears to have lessened off the back of a 3-0 win over Everton and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the EFL Cup, which they narrowly lost on penalties.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1)
Solskjaer will probably recall his star players for this match, so we expect a relatively unchanged line-up from the side that defeated West Ham 2-1 in the Premier League last weekend.
The United coach, meanwhile, has confirmed Edinson Cavani’s return to the squad after spending a fortnight out injured. It’s unclear if the 34-year-old is ready to start, but his return is a welcome boost all the same.
As for Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward has no fitness issues and should be available to lead the Red Devils attack again.
Aston Villa (3-5-2)
Axel Tuanzebe is ineligible to face his parent club, Manchester United, so Aston Villa have to make do without the defender.
Ashley Young, however, could make his return to Old Trafford for the first time since he left for Inter Milan in 2020. John McGinn could also feature, although the visitors may still be a little short-handed.
When does the match start?
The Premier League match between Manchester United and Aston Villa starts at 13:30 (CEST).
