Police were called to Manchester United legend and Wales boss Ryan Giggs’ home over the weekend regarding an alleged incident.

Police arrested Giggs on Sunday night for reportedly assaulting his girlfriend, Kate Grenville, at his mother’s £1.7m home in Worsley, Manchester, according to The Sun.

“A woman in her 30s had some superficial injuries but did not require any hospital treatment and a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault,” read a statement from the Greater Manchester Police.

“The arrested man was released on bail pending enquiries.”

Reports state that Giggs was detained just after 10 pm amid suspicion of ‘a disturbance’ on Sunday. However, he has been released on bail and has now publicly denied the allegations made against him.

“Mr Giggs denies all allegations of assault made against him,” read a statement from his representatives. “He is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigations.”

The Welsh Football Federation has since canceled a press conference that Giggs was due to attend on Tuesday. In a brief statement, the FAW acknowledged the allegations but refused to make any further comments.

It’s uncertain if the Wales manager will be available for the upcoming friendly against the United States on November 12. Two more Nations League games against Ireland and Finland are also coming up this month.

Giggs, meanwhile, has reportedly been living at the property he brought for his mother in Manchester and was at his Hotel Football earlier on Sunday to watch United’s match against Arsenal before visiting the Stock Exchange Hotel in the city center.

The 46-year-old then returned to his partner of three years, Kate Grenville, in Worsley before his arrest later that night.
