The Red Devils have received a double boost ahead of their Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Mason Mount and Raphael Varane returned to training in an open team session at Carrington on Tuesday morning. The duo, who had been sidelined due to injuries, rejoined their teammates in a promising development for Manchester United.

At the time of writing, the club has not said if Mount and Varane will feature in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Nonetheless, the pair’s respective returns were a welcome sight. Mount, a £60 million summer signing from Chelsea, hasn’t played since August 19. Likewise, Varane has been unavailable for a long spell. The defender hasn’t featured since coming off midway into the club’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on August 26.

Amrabat & Mainoo also train, Sancho still out

Besides Mount and Varane, Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo also made an appearance on Tuesday. Both players trained apart from the group, as they worked to build up their respective levels of fitness.

On the flip side, Aaron Wan-Bissaka wasn’t around. The right-back is injured and could be sidelined for the upcoming weeks. The club is yet to announce the full extent of his injury.

Jadon Sancho remains suspended from the senior team for disciplinary reasons. Furthermore, Antony is on a leave of absence amid allegations of assault. The duo’s absences will no doubt complicate things for Manchester United’s injury-hit squad.

Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Tom Heaton, and Luke Shaw are currently set to remain unavailable for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The Red Devils, competing in Group A of the Champions League, will also face FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray, alongside Bayern, in the tournament.
