The Red Devils have a fresh injury headache ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka faces a long spell on the sidelines.

According to a club statement on Monday, Wan-Bissaka may be out for “several weeks”. Manchester United have not disclosed the nature of the 25-year-old’s injury. The medical team will conduct more tests first, before determining the recovery period.

This setback adds to the mounting issues at Old Trafford. Off-field problems and injuries have exacerbated poor performances. These have led to disappointing results, with Erik ten Hag’s side currently down in 13th place in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils have already been grappling with a lengthy injury list that includes Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and Raphael Varane.

Wan-Bissaka, who didn’t start for the first time this season on Saturday, came on as an 85th-minute substitute in the 3-1 home defeat to Brighton. He struggled with an illness earlier in the week.

His absence will surely be felt as Manchester United prepare to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.
