Lionel Messi is on course for a bad breakup with Barcelona and Rivaldo has tipped Manchester City as his next destination.
What was thought of never happening, is happening. Lionel Messi is disillusioned at Camp Nou and wants to leave.
Josep Maria Bartomeu has done the unthinkable and his poor management of the club has forced Messi’s hand.
The club do not want to let him go but it seems his mind is made up. The Argentine will leave, either in their transfer window or the one coming next.
Inter Milan, Manchester City and Paris Saint- Germain have been reported as his next destination.
Brazil and Barcelona legend, Rivaldo, shared his two cents on the topic. He left Camp Nou on similar terms and knows what the Rosario native is going through.
Rivaldo has picked Manchester City as favorites and believes Pep Guardiola’s presence will be the deciding reason. The 2002 World Cup winner added that Guardiola can easily change his system to build a team around the Argentine.
“Manchester City could be Messi’s best option as his next club,” Rivaldo told Betfair. “He’s 33 but his quality and talent are unquestionable and I think he still has a few more years at the top. He could quickly start shining in England.”
“Guardiola has deep knowledge of Messi’s abilities and would find a solution to quickly incorporate him into the team and get the best from him.”
“I even imagine Guardiola building the rest of his team around Messi. His talent can make the difference at any place and at any time, and I’m sure he could produce match-winning performances in the Premier League.”
Manchester United will also be keenly looking at Messi’s situation at Camp Nou. The Red Devils are one of the few clubs who can genuinely afford to sign him without help from their billionaire owners.
