An easy home win sends Man United to the Premier League’s third spot.

Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1 in their Premier League game on Thursday. The Blues continued their poor run under Frank Lampard, suffering their 17th defeat of the season.

Casemiro strikes again!

The game started with Man Utd pushing for an early opener. Erik Ten Hag’s men got what they were looking for only six minutes into the game.

Similar to their weekend match against Bournemouth, United went ahead through an early goal from Casemiro. The Brazilian star converted Christian Eriksen’s perfect free kick with a powerful header.

Chelsea increased the pressure on United’s backline throughout the first half. However, the Red Devils managed to double their lead through Anthony Martial just a minute before the half-time whistle.

The goal motivated the hosts to push for more as soon as the second period started. However, it took the Red Devils until the 73rd minute to find the back of the net again.

Bruno Fernandes converted his penalty spot with a cool shot to make it 3-0 for the hosts. Only five minutes later, Chelsea’s devastated backline conceded another goal.

This time, Marcus Rashford added his name to the scoreline with a finish from close range after a blunder from Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Joao Felix pulled one back for the visitors in the 89th minute. But that wasn’t enough to save Chelsea from suffering another heavy defeat.

Lampard’s side slipped to 12th spot on the table while Man Utd booked their place in the next season’s Champions League. The two sides will end their EPL campaign with matches against Newcastle and Fulham, respectively.
