The Red Devils are in desperate need of a positive result, and the return of a pair of key players might just provide the boost they need.

Edinson Cavani and Fred are available for Manchester United’s match against Atalanta, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

Cavani and Fred were absent from Man United’s matchday squad to face Leicester City – a game they lost 4-2.

The Uruguayan striker and the Brazilian midfielder missed the weekend’s match due to their respective international duties, but the duo rejoined the Red Devils squad on Friday and are available for selection for the upcoming Champions League fixture.

“Edinson [Cavani] and Fred are back available which is good for us,” said Solskjaer (via the club’s official website).

“Anthony [Martial] joined in training [on Tuesday] but he’s still not fit enough to join us [for the match]. Harry [Maguire]’s not had a reaction so he’s fine and good to go.

“We didn’t lose anyone else from the game through injury at the weekend, so we’re more or less a full squad. Raphael [Varane] of course is not with us still.”

Additionally, Aaron wan-Bissaka, who missed the Villarreal game due to suspension, is also available and can be expected to return to the Man United starting XI on Wednesday.
