The Red Devils have developed a habit of getting the job done somehow lately and are expected to extend their unbeaten league run.

Manchester United return to Premier League action on New Year’s Day as they host Aston Villa for their first match of 2021.

Comparing their recent performances to those at the beginning of the season, the home side has looked like a very different team with significant improvements in their playing style.

The visitors are also in a strong position, having transformed themselves from a relegation-threatened team to one with ambitions for a top-four finish.

Man United vs Wolves Form:

The Red Devils will walk into Friday’s match with high morale after a scrappy 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Marcus Rashford scoring a 93rd-minute winner.

Tuesday night’s result saw them extend their unbeaten record in the Premier League to 10 matches.

United have emerged as genuine title contenders this season as they rank second in the standings, three points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

The Villans, however, have what it takes to cause an upset for their upcoming opponents.

Dean Smith’s leadership has helped the Lions develop into a defensive powerhouse having conceded the fewest goals (14) in the league this season.

Under Smith, the team has scaled to fifth in the standings and a win at Old Trafford would move them to within just one point of their second-placed opponents.

Man United vs Wolves Head-to-head:

The Red Devils have won 19 of the 25 previous encounters with the Villians while five of those games have ended in a draw.

Man United vs Wolves Team News:

Edinson Cavani is not allowed to feature in this game as a punishment for his racially insensitive Instagram post.

Center-backs Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are out injured for the hosts while Victor Lindelof, who missed the Wolves game, is a doubt.

The visitors will be missing Trezeguet and Wesley Moraes with both the players nursing injuries.
