After falling down low in the squad pecking order for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a Red Devil has returned for a third spell at Villa Park.

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has completed a temporary transfer to Aston Villa, the club announced on Sunday.

Tuanzebe will spend the 2021-22 season at Aston Villa, having joined forces with the Villians on a season-long loan deal.

The 23-year-old center-back is no stranger to life at Villa Park. He helped them earn a Premier League promotion in his second spell in 2018-19, but he wasn’t able to make much of an impact in his first short spell due to fitness issues.

A part of the press release by Man Utd reads: “Axel Tuanzebe will spend the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Aston Villa after agreeing a season-long move to the Premier League club.

“The 23-year-old has also signed a new contract at Manchester United, lasting until June 2023 with the option of an additional year’s extension.

“Having endured a difficult campaign last time out due to a couple of injuries, the highly-rated centre-back will use this loan as a vital opportunity to assert himself and make an impression.

Axel will return to the United set-up at the end of the 2021/22 season, at which point he’ll then hope to stake a claim for a first-team starting spot at Old Trafford.”

Aston Villa have had a quite busy summer so far, having also added Ashley Young, Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey, and Danny Ings to their ranks. In terms of outgoings, they sold their star player Jack Grealish to Manchester City for a British transfer record of £100 million.
