The Man United manager expects Sancho to be back in his squad soon after his ‘fatigue’ during the Middlesbrough match.

Middlesbrough defeated Manchester United on penalties after their 1-1 draw in the FA Cup’s fifth round. Jadon Sancho scored his first goal at Old Trafford to put the Red Devils ahead.

However, a controversial equalizer from the Boro in the second half took the game to penalties, where they beat the hosts 8-7.

United manager Ralf Rangnick replaced Sancho with Juan Mata after the English star appeared to have suffered a hamstring injury in the second half. However, the German manager says Sancho has left the pitch due to being exhausted, ruling out an injury issue.

“Jadon didn’t get a knock,” the United boss told MUTV (via SportsMax). “He was just feeling tired.

“He had no injury, he was just feeling some fatigue and had some cramp so that was the reason why we decided to take him off.

He added: “Bruno had a knock on his back but could play through the whole game.

“With Paul Pogba having been out for two and a half months, it was normal that he was substituted after 65, 70 minutes.

“Physically, I don’t think we need to lift the squad. Hopefully, for Tuesday, we will have all of those players available again.”

United will return to Premier League action when they take on Burnley on Tuesday. The Red Devils are fourth in the Premier League with 38 points from their 22 games.
