The Citizens have cut the ticket allocation to Liverpool fans by 20%.
Liverpool will challenge Manchester City’s decision to reduce ticket allocation to their fans for the upcoming clash at Etihad.
The two Premier League giants will lock horns on April 1. However, the Citizens have only handed 2,382 tickets to the Liverpool supporters.
Last season, the Reds had a crowd of 2,880 supporters in their match against City at Etihad. The club reacted to City’s decision to reduce the tickets with an official statement.
“Liverpool Football Club has been informed that its ticket allocation for the forthcoming Premier League fixture against Manchester City on April 1 at Etihad Stadium has been significantly reduced,” the Reds’ statement reads.
“This reduction was agreed between Greater Manchester Police, the local Ground Safety Advisory Group and Manchester City.
“LFC has been in contact with the Premier League and Manchester City to challenge this decision. The club is committed to having as many supporters as possible in stadiums for Premier League away fixtures.”
According to Mirror, Liverpool are “outraged” with City’s reduction of the tickets. The Reds will make a direct appeal to the Premier League to reconsider the decision.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will face Man City in their first game after the international break. The Reds will then take on Chelsea on April 4.
