Etihad Stadium was the place where Man City got a visit from PSG in the second Champions League semifinal. We got the player ratings.

Man City had an appointment with destiny tonight against PSG, they already had the first-leg advantage. Mauricio Pochettino knew he had very little chance of getting a good result without his best player: Kylian Mbappe. The French forward is suffering calf problems and he simply wasn’t ready to play this evening. Contrary to the first-leg, Manchester City dominated throughout the 90 minutes without letting the French get a single clear chance.

Ruben Dias was the outstanding man of the match with one of the best performances of his career so far. No ball got through the defense with Dias playing at this level, he deserves individual awards this season. Riyad Mahrez was the man who scored the opening goal after a brilliant collective play from the Citizens. There was still hope for Mbappe to get on the pitch but Man City couldn’t score another goal.

Mahrez seals the final for Man City.

After the break, we saw more of the same from both sides. PSG players getting increasingly more frustrated with Manchester City’s dominance. Funny enough, the Citizens sealed the ticket to the final through an atypical counter-attack. Riyad Mahrez was the man who scored the second goal and his third in this series. Kylian Mbappe never even got changed to play this match, his injury was clearly serious.

Pep Guardiola can finally silence all those critics who didn’t think he could reach this stage of the tournament outside of Barcelona. He will be watching tomorrow’s match between Real Madrid and Chelsea to see the rival his team is facing on May 29. The Citizens are on their way to win a treble this season after all. But can they make it happen?
